[002] [002] A furniture product with a mechanical locking device is known in the art, as described in WO 14 / 072080. The furniture product comprises a first panel connected perpendicularly to a second panel by means of a mechanical locking device which comprises a flexible tongue in an insertion groove and a pin that is inserted into the mechanical locking device to move the flexible tongue.
[003] [003] Modalities of the present invention meet a need to provide easier assembly and / or greater resistance to panel locking. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[004] [004] It is an objective of at least certain modalities and aspects of the present invention to provide an improvement over the techniques described above and the known technique.
[005] [005] Another objective of at least certain aspects of the present invention is to facilitate the assembly of panels configured to be assembled without the need to use any tools.
[006] [006] Another objective of at least certain aspects of the present invention is to facilitate the disassembly of panels configured to be assembled and disassembled without the need for tools.
[007] [007] Another objective of at least certain aspects of the present invention is to facilitate the assembly of panels configured to be assembled with a locking device that is easy to manufacture and use.
[008] [008] Another objective of at least certain aspects of the present invention is to facilitate the assembly of panels configured to be assembled with a locking device that is in one piece.
[009] [009] At least some of these and other objectives and advantages, which may be evident from the description, have been achieved by a set of panels, preferably for a furniture product, which comprises a panel and an adjacent panel. The panel comprises a groove and at least one hole connected to the groove through an opening. The adjacent panel comprises a first edge which is configured to be arranged in the slot of the panel. The panel comprises a locking device configured to lock the first edge of the adjacent panel in the slot of the panel. The locking device comprises a cylinder and a lever connected to the cylinder. The cylinder is configured to be arranged in the hole in the panel. The cylinder is an eccentric cylinder that comprises an upper and lower base and a locking surface that connects the upper and lower base. The cylinder is configured to act as a camo when the cylinder is rotated about an axis in the hole. The lever is configured to, when rotated, rotate the cylinder around the axis, between a mounting position and a locking position, where in the mounting position the first edge of the adjacent panel is free to be arranged in the groove of the panel and , in the locking position, a part of the locking surface of the locking device extends into the groove through the opening and locks the adjacent panel in the groove. Arranged in the groove of the panel can be in the direction of the depth of the groove and / or in a direction along the length of the groove. By means of a set of panels accordingly, the adjacent panel and the panel can be locked together effectively and easily. The eccentric cylinder exerts a force on the adjacent panel which locks the adjacent panel and the panel together in a good way. Locking device modalities do not require any tools to be used. In addition, the locking device can be a single piece that is easy to use. In addition, by having only a single-piece locking device, the locking device could be manufactured in one step and thus reduce the cost of the locking device. Modes of the panel set may involve the advantage that the adjacent panel does not need to be machined in a specific way in order to interact with the locking device.
[0010] [0010] According to one aspect, the locking surface of the cylinder has a snail, eccentric or egg cross-sectional shape which can easily achieve the required force from the locking device to the adjacent panel in a manner easy.
[0011] [0011] According to one aspect, the cylinder's locking surface has a shape that is a combination of a snail, eccentric and / or egg shape, which provides the advantage that the mounting and locking positions could be positions stable and that the user could obtain tactile feedback by turning the lever.
[0012] [0012] According to one aspect, the locking device is arranged to lock the panel adjacent to the panel in the locking position by pressing it against a groove wall.
[0013] [0013] According to one aspect, the hole is a circular hole, a circular segment of the hole extending inside the groove with the height of the circular segment and the rope of the circular segment defining a width of the opening.
[0014] [0014] According to one aspect, a larger diameter of the cylinder is substantially equal to the diameter of the hole, which implies that the locking device can be fixed to the hole by friction and at the same time be rotated.
[0015] [0015] According to one aspect, the part of the locking surface extends, in the locking position through the opening in the groove, with a length that is 5 to 25% of the largest diameter of the cylinder, preferably the length is 10 to 15% of the largest cylinder diameter.
[0016] [0016] According to one aspect, the length in the radial direction of the cylinder that the part of the locking surface extends into the groove in the locking position, corresponds substantially to the height of the circular segment.
[0017] [0017] According to one aspect, the cylinder in the mounting position does not extend through the opening for the groove. The slot is thus free to insert the adjacent panel.
[0018] [0018] According to one aspect, the length of the part of the locking surface that extends into the groove through the opening is configured to gradually increase when the locking device is moved from the mounting position to the locking position, which provides the user with tactile feedback that the adjacent panel is locked.
[0019] [0019] According to one aspect, the locking surface of the cylinder comprises one or more ridges to increase the force that the locking device exerts on the adjacent panel, concentrating the force on one or more points. The ridges can also cut on the adjacent panel and / or on the orifice wall to increase the resistance of the locking device and the force exerted.
[0020] [0020] According to one aspect, one or more ridges extend around at least a part of a circumference of the locking surface, which opens so that the force from the locking device can be different in different positions .
[0021] [0021] According to one aspect, the height of the ridges varies along their length, which opens even more so that the force of the locking device can be different in different positions.
[0022] [0022] According to one aspect, the one or more ridges have a helical shape configured to press the adjacent panel downwards when moving the locking device from the mounting position to the locking position.
[0023] [0023] According to one aspect, the adjacent panel comprises a second hole which is configured to be arranged in the opening, and to interact with the cylinder to lock the panel adjacent to the panel. According to one aspect, the locking surface of the cylinder comprises at least one ridge which, in the locking position, is configured to be arranged at least partially in the second orifice. In addition to the pressure force exerted by the locking device, the second orifice interacting with the cylinder obtains an additional mechanical lock. The set of panels also involves the advantage that the adjacent panel does not need to be machined in a complicated way, since a hole can be made easily and economically.
[0024] [0024] According to one aspect, an edge of the ridge has an inclined surface that is configured to interact with a wall of the second hole to press the adjacent panel down into the groove of the panel. Because it has an inclined surface, the ridge can press the adjacent panel down into the groove.
[0025] [0025] According to one aspect, the lever is connected to the cylinder at an inner end, and at an outer end it comprises a locking pin which, in the locking position, is configured to be arranged in the groove at a distance from the hole, and to lock the lever for turning from the locking position to the mounting position.
[0026] [0026] According to one aspect, the locking device is configured so that the outer end of the lever is, in the mounting position, arranged at a distance from the adjacent panel and in the adjacent locking position, preferably in contact with the adjacent panel, which makes it easier for the user to grab the outer edge and rotate the locking device.
[0027] [0027] According to one aspect, the locking device is configured so that the lever extends, in the mounting position, in an essentially perpendicular direction or within the range of about 70º to about 110º of the adjacent panel.
[0028] [0028] According to one aspect, the locking device is configured to be moved between the mounting position and the locking position, rotating the lever and the cylinder between 30º -180º, preferably between 90º -180º.
[0029] [0029] According to one aspect, the panel and the adjacent panel are part of a lower part of a drawer, a structure and a back piece of a furniture product.
[0030] [0030] At least some of the objectives identified above, and other objectives and advantages that may be evident from the description, have been achieved by a locking device for a furniture product in accordance with the above.
[0031] [0031] At least some of the above objectives and other objectives and advantages, which may be evident from the description, were achieved by a method for assembling a set of panels according to the above. The method comprising the step of inserting the locking device cylinder into the hole in the panel, turning the locking device lever to position the locking device in the mounting position, inserting the first edge of the adjacent panel into the slot of the panel, and rotating the lever in a first direction to move the locking device from the mounting position to the locking position to lock the first edge of the adjacent panel into the groove.
[0032] [0032] According to one aspect, the method comprises the additional steps of rotating the lever in a second direction, to move the locking device from the locking position to the mounting position to unlock the first edge of the adjacent panel in the groove, and removing the first edge of the panel adjacent to the panel groove. [0044] [0044] Aspects of the present invention will be described in more detail hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings. The set of panels and their parts described here can, however, be made in many different ways and should not be interpreted as limited to the aspects established here. Similar numbers in the drawings refer to the same elements across all of them.
[0045] [0045] The terminology used in this document is intended to describe only particular aspects of the invention and is not intended to limit the invention. As used here, the singular forms "o", "one" are also intended to include plural forms, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.
[0046] [0046] Exemplary aspects of the invention have been described in the drawings and specifications. The circumference of the hole 22, according to one aspect, overlaps the extension of the groove 21. A plane that defines the connection between the hole 22 and the groove 21 is defined as opening 23. Hole 22 has a depth D22. According to one aspect, hole 22 is a hollow hole (not shown). The depth D22 can be the same or substantially the same as the depth D21; alternatively, the depth D22 can be greater than the depth D21.
[0052] [0052] According to one aspect, the orifice 22 is a circular orifice 22, as described in Figures 3 and 4. A circular segment 25 of orifice 23 overlaps the groove 21. Putting it in another way, the circular segment 25 lies extends into slot 21. Hole 22 extends into slot 21, with height h of circular segment 25. [0067] [0067] In the locking position, a portion 45a of the locking surface 45 of the locking device 4 extends into the groove 21 through the opening 23, and locks the adjacent panel 3 into the groove 21, as described in Figure 5. In locking position, adjacent panel 3 is locked against panel 2.
[0068] [0068] According to one aspect, the locking device 4 is arranged to, in the locking position, lock the adjacent panel 3 on the panel 2 by pressing it against the wall 24 of the groove 21. The part 45a extending to the groove 21, makes contact with adjacent panel 3 and presses it against the wall 24 of groove 21. Part 45a extends through opening 23 with a length hP, as described in Figure 5. According to one aspect, the part 45a of the locking surface 45 extends, in the locking position, through the opening 23 to the groove 21 with a length hP that is 5-25% of the largest diameter dL of the cylinder 41. According to one aspect, the part 45a the locking surface 45 extends, in the locking position, through the opening 23 in the groove 21 with a length hP which is 10-15% of the largest diameter dL of the cylinder 41.
[0069] [0069] According to one aspect, the radial direction of the cylinder that the part 45a of the locking surface 45 extends to the groove 21 in the locking position, substantially corresponds to the height h of the circular segment 25. In other words, the direction the height h of the circular segment 25 is the same as the direction of the length hP of the part 45a of the locking surface 45.
[0070] [0070] According to one aspect, the outer end 42b of lever 42 is, in the mounting position, arranged at a distance from the adjacent panel 3. According to one aspect, the outer end 42b of lever 42 is, in the position of locking, disposed adjacent to the adjacent panel 3.
